Sociology of health in Portugal: contexts, topics and protagonists
Keywords:
-Abstract
The sociology of health in Portugal is still emerging as a sociological field. Although, in recent years, it has presented a certain dissemination in the topics and protagonists, its internal characteristics do not, for the moment, allow us to apply the concept of a scientific field, as defined by Bourdieu. On the basis of an analysis of the sociological production that has health as its theoretical object — master’s and PhD theses, scientific articles — it is proposed to cast an eye over the characteristics and specificities in their epistemological, theoretical and methodological orientations. We are talking about taking a sociological look at the production of Portuguese sociology.
