This study examines audio professionals, primarily musicians and sound designers, in the video game industry in Portugal. The main objective is to understand the social dynamics they are part of, identify the challenges they face, and analyse their perspectives on the role and value of their work in this sector. Using a qualitative approach, the study is based on five interviews, which are cross-referenced with existing literature and research on the national educational offerings. The results highlight challenges such as the devaluation of music and labour precariousness, emphasizing the importance of cultural capital for social mobility within the field.
