Measuring the tourism economic impact of Summer University courses

Este estudo avalia o impacto económico dos cursos de Verão organizados longe da sede de uma universidade espanhola de média dimensão. Esta actividade académica contribui para a revitalização do turismo na cidade com a chegada de novos turistas para fins académicos e profissionais que geram receitas na cidade com o seu consumo. Além disso, este impacto económico é aumentado pelas despesas efectuadas pelos próprios organizadores para realizar os cursos de Verão (utiliza-se a metodologia input - output). Finalmente, concluímos que estes cursos de Verão desempenham um papel significativo na revitalização do turismo na cidade que acolhe a Universidade de Verão.
