Abstract

Gender equality, besides being a fundamental issue in the economic and social development and in the construction of democracy, is a commitment assumed by the States, through several international and national instruments. In this process, it is important to have inclusive and visionary leaderships, with an equitable look at all sectors, including Tourism.
Investing in gender equality in any area, means:
- Reducing gender gaps;
- Addressing the effects caused by discrimination against women;
- Reducing the burden of unpaid work by promoting the social co-responsibility of the State, the Private Sector and the community in care;
- Remove cultural values, beliefs and practices that reproduce gender discrimination;
- Add the information and resources that enable better interventions to combat discrimination against women and gender inequality;
- Strengthen institutional mechanisms and capacities to promote gender equality and women's empowerment;
