Abstract

In the current context, marked by globalization and the consolidation of large multinational companies, it is important to monitor the actions of companies, in order to minimize their negative impact on society. The purpose of this article, through the analysis of the most important cruise companies, is to verify the degree of transparency in accordance with the concepts of Corporate Social Responsibility, in addition to their level of involvement with society and the environment. The results indicate that they are the largest companies, with more boats and higher sales, which publish annual reports of environmental sustainability, which highlights the social commitment of these companies with society. There is perhaps a need to establish greater control over smaller companies, but it has been proven that companies in this sector, thanks to the Global Reporting Initiative standards or the International Maritime Association, have made great efforts in terms of environmental sustainability, which also contributes to a significant improvement in its image.
