Abstract

The Tourism and Hospitality International Journal (http://www.isce-turismo.com/revista-cientifica) is a joint editorial project of the Tourism Department of the Instituto Superior de Ciências Educativas - ISCE, as part of its Research Centre (ISCE-CI), in partnership with the Portuguese Association for Research and Development in Tourism - APIDT, in digital format, dedicated to the publication of original scientific articles in the areas of Tourism, Hospitality and Restaurant Studies.
With the publication of the first issue, the mission of this scientific journal is pointed out as the reinforcement of the inter and transdisciplinary character of tourism studies, which is related to the need to share knowledge and skills obtained from a scientific and applied research in Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Management, gradually bringing closer the community of researchers from these three areas. In order to establish itself as a digital magazine of free and worldwide distribution, it will be published twice a year, in September and March. Its international and multicultural scope will allow the publication of texts in Portuguese, English and Spanish, accepting papers from authors from any country that aim to contribute to a pertinent and useful discussion for the development of Tourism.
In order to guarantee the editorial and scientific quality of its contents, the construction of the Tourism and Hospitality International Journal (THIJ) took into account the set of 36 characteristics of editorial quality designed by Latindex, with a view to its brief integration. In a very short period it is also aimed to index the journal to: EBSCO, SCIELO, DIALNET, CIRET, SCIRUS, GetCITED and CAPES. This publication intends to be governed by criteria of rigour based on an international standard of excellence, ensuring the quality of scientific articles through a process of anonymous review (blind referee) assured by a scientific committee that includes teachers and researchers from prestigious institutions of higher education in Portugal and abroad.
