ABSTRACT
Population aging is a reality in Brazil, just like in the whole world. One of the main problems associated with human aging is the reduction of the ability to control posture and gait, which can lead to falls, thus reducing the functional capacity of the elderly. The objective of this research is the consequences of psychomotor interventions for better results in relation to the gain of functionality, range of motion, motor coordination, proprioception, tonicity, balance and spatio-temporal structuring. The methodology used was through a systematic review of the literature, carried out in electronic databases. We included articles that fit the proposed theme and the scientific papers published between the years 2000 and 2017. The electronic search was conducted in the following databases: MEDLINE / PUBMED, LILACS, SCIELO, BIREME. The descriptors in Portuguese and their correspondence in English were used: Physiotherapy, Geriatrics, Psychomotricity, Equilibrium. The use of a protocol of therapeutic exercises that include psychomotor stimuli to be potentialized. Thus, through this study it is possible to identify that there is functional improvement through psychomotor stimulation in the elderly.
