Abstract

This article looks at how digital currency and its integration with platforms and other services address the competition between private money and public money. In a digital economy, money can effectively disappear, and payments can focus on social and economic platforms rather than banks' credit provision, weakening traditional currency policy transmission channels. The adoption of mobile money is an opportunity to reduce transaction costs and increase the monetary mass and scope of supply in developing economies. Finally, the literature on Pyramid Base (BoP) strategies underlines that creating social value requires collaborative business approaches and to stake holder.
