Social Responsibility is a set of behaviors, measures and obligations that companies adopt to respond to society's concerns. The article analyzes the Gas and Social Responsibility Sector, case of the Southern Region of Mozambique between 2001-2021, aiming to understand to what extent the exploration and sale of natural gas met the expectations of the Mozambican communities. The bibliographic review and questionnaire were applied to a sample of four hundred and thirty respondents, being two hundred and thirty-four from Gaza, one hundred and seventy-eight from Inhambane, twelve Maputo City and six Maputo province, in a universe of about five million and eight hundred thousand inhabitant. The results of the study show that social responsibility in the southern region fits into the Positive Accounting Theory, instead of the Stakeholders theory which is more appropriate, RS promotes slow development, there is a weak technical capacity of Mozambicans to control of operating income, lack of transparency caused by the existence of greater evidence of corruption that hampers the country's development, need to create a model of private industrialization of gas-powered machines, but free of charge to encourage self-employment and employability , the country must install a natural gas refinery industry to reduce the costs of acquiring natural gas in the territory.
