Male Adult Breast Hamartoma

Abstract

A 43-year-old man presented with a slowly growing periareolar lump. Mammography and ultrasound showed a well-defined encapsulated oval mass with intermixed fat and stroma, creating the classic “breast-within-a-breast” appearance. Male breast hamartoma is exceedingly rare—fewer than ten cases reported—but its hallmark imaging allows confident diagnosis without biopsy. The lesion was categorised BI-RADS 2, and annual clinical follow-up was recommended. This case highlights the value of recognising this benign entity and sparing unnecessary intervention.
