Abstract

The text discusses the relevance of the publication, on Bahia in 1811, of the Arte da Grammatica Portugueza of Pedro José de Figueiredo for the typographer Manuel Antonio da Silva Serva. Is investigated the political and cultural relevance of the related book in the context of portuguese colonial administration in the transition of century XVIIIfor the XIX, analyzing the publishing politics of the joanino period in Brazil.
