This article is an attempt to study the model of military organisation adopted in the fortresses of Morocco. The importance of this model lies in the fact that it was responsible for the policy of occupying small territories in the North of Africa. We will therefore portray the organizational structure of the soldiers in the fortresses and their practices of war, both in land warfare (specially the fortresses’s sieges and the «guerrilla war») and in maritime combats. In the end we make an attempt to understand their influence in the military organization of the «Estado da Índia».
