The article suggests a reflection on the apologetic discourse of entrepreneurship and its relation to active labor market policies. It is argued that state-induced entrepreneurship policies transfer to a private provision system the responsibility for employment creation and open a new field of financialization: the employment market. Discursive counterpoints to entrepreneurship promotion policies are found among previous empirical studies, but also through statistical data considered relevant to the study of a phenomenon whose effects are still largely understudied.
