The aim of this paper is to analyze the colonial experiences in Luanda in its final two decades through the lens of sports activities in the city. Using articles in the newspaper Angola Desportiva we observe sports in the corporate environment and the neighborhood football tournaments. We highlight the changes in the Angolan control strategy exercised by the colonial authorities and the economic expansion of the colony, creating a new dynamism in the poorest areas of the city and inducing changes in commercial activities among the firms.
