The purpose of this article is to analyze the protest and the response of human resource managers to the critic on the models of work organization made by the labor movement throughout 1974 and 1975. Based on the documents produced by both unions and workers committees or on the newsletter published by the Portuguese Association of Managers, we will seek to demonstrate the relevance of this conflict in the emergence of a new discourse around the worker and the company.
