Abstract

The present work reviews the literature pertaining to family mediation, its assumptions, and methods, with the extended goal of updating the concepts and practices involved, in light of our changing society. Focus is on the evolution of life styles, family models, divorce, and legislation addressing these issues. The mutual reflection of social values and contemporary law has drawn into the public sphere many issues that were long considered to be private.
