Abstract

The study assessed the perception of the 60+ population about the impact of the pandemic. Through a focus group held in virtual spaces, the speech of the 16 participants was categorized into the axes “weaknesses”, “values”, “beliefs” and “potentialities”, indicating the uncertainties, consequences of the interruption of important activities in this stage of life, promotion of mental health and, mainly, concern for family members and collective grief. The weaknesses pointed out can be overcome by technology, adding protagonism, self-esteem, and autonomy over the new period. The proposed methodology allowed the reception, collective construction, and support in the confluence between social sciences and bioethics.
