The PCP and the process of mobilization between 1974 and 1976

Abstract

This article analyzes the organizational strategy of the Portuguese Communist Party during the transition to democracy (1974-1976). It looks at the development of the party's central committee and its mobilization strategy in the different phases of the transition, and shows how available resources were used and priority was given to the alliance with certain sectors of the armed forces.
