Abstract

The teaching profession today is encouraged to modernize, and one of the key methods prescribed for this is team work. In more independent schools teachers are invited, often by school heads, whose teaching role has increased in recent years, to expand the range of their traditional tasks. While teachers often seem to have trouble carrying out this instruction, they seem, paradoxically, happier as individual teachers to engage in more intensive class management, an aspect of their profession which they collectively share. I take the view that the release of a collective activity is a corollary of the ability to socialize this maior teaching risk.
