The economy of agricultural institutions in Portugal: a contribution to a conceptual framework for analysis

Abstract

This article outlines a conceptual framework for analysing agricultural institutions in Portugal on the basis of the corporative organization which prevailed under the Estado Novo and the co-operative structures of the democratic regime. The origins, structure and operation of the country 's main agricultural organizations during this time is studied using an institutional economics approach.
