An analysis of some aspects of globalization and its systems of governance, with particular reference to the role of international institutions, like the World Bank and the IMF. The writer considers that globalization has both advantages and disadvantages, and emphasizes the fact that the countries which have recently recorded the highest growth rates were not those which followed the IMF's rules, but those which made themselves part of the general framework of globalization.
