The use of knowledge in the work context

Abstract

This article puts forward an analytical and research model of how knowledge developed by occupational groups in their work contexts is used. This analytical approach is known as the ethno-sociology of occupational knowledge. In order to provide an empirical foundation for the hypotheses put forward in this article, the author makes use of the conclusions of an ethnographic research study on the occupational culture of teachers and two exploratory studies on two occupational groups.
