Abstract

A reflection on the relationship between the presence of women in the pre-assembly and final assembly stages of motor vehicle production and modern production management methods. Women are not out of place, as the codified and systematised data on female industrial employment in Auto-Europa in Portugal indicate. A comparative study of this company and the former Autolatina in Brazil is the main point of reference for the issues and ideas examined here.
