Nationalisation and confiscation of Portuguese capital in the Angolan manufacturing industry (1975-1990)

The article is focused on the Angolan manufacturing industry and has two goals, the first being the description of the nationalization and confiscation policy pursued by the Angolan government soon after the independence in 1975 until 1991, this is, along the period corresponding to the intention of building a socialist economic and political system; and the second being the understanding and the impact of such policy on Portuguese manufacturing industry assets which were dealt in a discretionary way vis-à-vis other foreign assets. The article concludes by highlighting the negative consequences of such policy to the Angolan manufacturing industry performance.
