This article analyses the impact of socio-economic factors on young Portuguese people’s perceptions of access to the labour market, with a view to improving public policies. Using three statistical models, it shows that schooling and the support and framework of companies emerge as crucial factors, with young people with lower levels of schooling perceiving greater support from companies. The conclusion is that policies should focus on reducing structural obstacles to accessing the labour market. Effective public policies must offer continuous support to guarantee the equitable integration of young Portuguese into the labour market.
