Abstract

D. Manuel Gonçalves Cerejeira, a priest from the Minho and university professor at the Faculdade de Letras at Coimbra University, was one of the founders of the second CADC of Coimbra (1911) and cardinal of Lisbon (1929-1971). He was one of the most important figures in Church life and in Portuguese society in the 20th century.
