Abstract

Biographical narratives clarify individual paths. This essay aims to place the figure of Henrique Tenreiro in the public context of salazarism and to trace his route to power in two main areas: the corporative oligarchy of fishing and the political system of the New State. Tenreiro' s political path follows a singular process of construction of an ample network of powers - formal and informal - within the context of salazarism, whose legitimacy it is of interest to discuss.
