Abstract

This study is concerned with the crucial period between 1258 and 1264, decisive in understanding the process of monarchic centralisation and what can be called the edification of the modern state. It was during that period that the essential parts were assembled: bureaucracy, legislative power, fiscal power, the police and a homogenous nobility that identified with the interests of the king.
