In attempting to define the great ideological values of the New State of the 30s and 40s, this article aims to demonstrate that this system of values, by its very nature, implied the creation of a vast machine of ideological enunciation and inculcation with a view to creating the «new salazarist man» and to confer on the regime the label of indisputable totalitarianism.
