Women's entrance to the job market did not alter the organisation of families much. Women continue to do most of the domestic work and to have less power than men in decisions affecting family life. However, most couples seem satisfied with the practices they adopt. These practices tend to be those that they observe among other couples. Compared with the previous generation there does seem to be greater equality now.
