Anthropology and the issue of the discipline

Abstract

This brief comment aims at countering many of the stereotypes about anthropology that have become common of late. In particular, it rejects corporativistic attitudes on the part of other social science disciplines which forget all too easily that the whole field shares a common theoretical and methodological heritage. The issue of the «professionalization» of our students is approached from this critical perspective.
