On the socio-religious opinion poll carried out in the area of the patriarchate of Lisbon. 1984

Abstract

This article gives some information about an opinion poll on points of view, attitudes and behaviors towards religion of the residents in the area of the patriarchate of Lisbon. The questionnaire was applied to a population aged 15 or more. The titles and authors of 12 booklets including the results of the poll, which have been published by the Patriarchate of Lisbon between 1985 and 1987, are referred to. The subjects of the questionnaire are also referred to, while emphasizing their significance for the study of a set of issues regarding to the Sociology of Religion. Furthermore, information is given on the data processing, as well as on the existing conditions that may have affected both the data collection and the results reached. At last, attention is drawn to the contribution of the poll to the Sociology of Church in Portugal.
