Demographic conjuncture of population in the 1970-80 period: global aspects

Abstract

Concern for demography has increased a lot in Portugal in the most recent years. This raise of concern is a result not only of an exigence, larger and larger, from the usual users of demographic data but also because other fields have found out the utility of such kind of information. Thinking that there are people interested in demography, in spite of having no interest in its technics, the author decided to begin the publication of a new series of articles under the title of "Demographic conjuncture". The first one concerns the global aspects of the Portuguese population in the 1970-80 period. The regional aspects in the same period will follow. Later on, as far as the data are beconing available, one will present other conjunctures concerning shorter periods, after 1980, including both global and regional aspects.
