Abstract

The objective of this article is to discuss the processes of training, professionalization and social insertion of young people in the artistic market of the city of Salvador, Bahia, and to compare the preliminary conclusions of this study with an earlier research carried out in Portuguese context, with more than one hundred young artists. The analyzed data show that in both contexts, Portugal and Brazil, the arts scenarios have mobilized dreams and expectations among the younger ones. The institutions offer more courses in the artistic areas, but this offer of training and their demand on the part of the students has been contrasted with the high levels of "disconnection" in the case of Salvador, and of disillusionment, in the Portuguese case, during the training and insertion of these young people, agents of change in the labor market.
