Digital transformation and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques in the Justice System of Brazil

The digitization of the Justice System in Brazil has created the right environment for the use of technology applied to judicial services. This digital transformation encompasses from the automation of processes to the implementation of advanced systems for the analysis and management of legal data, aiming to provide more efficient and accessible services. Especially in recent years, this context has enabled the expansion of the number of projects in development and production that utilize data science techniques, and thus artificial intelligence (AI), particularly given that Brazil is a country with one of the highest volumes of ongoing judicial cases. Throughout this study, discussions range from the appropriate ways to integrate legal techniques with the use of these new technologies and the strategic management of litigation, to the ethical and professional challenges associated with the use of this technology, as well as the implications for training legal professionals for this new reality. This contributes to the global debate on strategies for improving the provision of judicial services, offering important insights from a journey of more than 20 years, detailing its steps, challenges, and achievements through many stages necessary for the effectiveness of this path.
