The Activation of the Temporary Protection Directive in 2022 – Possible Implications for the Common European Asylum System

Abstract

The armed conflict in Ukraine has provoked international movements of people on an unprecedented scale. Faced with a difficult situation, the European Union decided to adopt an exceptional response. The activation of the Temporary Protection Directive and the concrete conditions under which this was done deserve reflection on the possible implications of this experience for future discussions on the Common European Asylum System.
