Abstract

The persistent exclusion of People with Disabilities and/or Incapacity (PWDI) today calls for the same perseverance when it comes to collectively building new ways of fighting for their rights. The development of the Social Education Project Sexualidades (IN)Visíveis – Uma Luta pelos Direitos das PCDI, Uma Luta contra a Invisibilidade na Sociedade – was inspired by the commitments underlying Participatory Action Research, such as the values of participatory democracy, and the values of humanist, emancipatory and critical Social Education. The participatory analysis of reality led the action research towards the field of Sexualities. It started from the need identified by the group itself to claim their rights in this field, rights associated with Equality, Freedom, Parenthood, Privacy and Education. The project, developed in person and online, was fundamentally based on strengthening quality dialogical relationships. An educational path of critical awareness and personal and social emancipation was built, based on countless reflections on the urgency of an educational and inclusive stance that challenges alienation. The participants were the main agents of awareness-raising, having carried out one of the educational actions developed, the (IN)Desejados Photographic Exhibition. The Sexualidades (IN)Visíveis challenged the sense of solidarity and collective transformation that is made with the world.
