O papel do enfermeiro da unidade de cuidados intensivos no combate à resistência aos antimicrobianos

Introdução: Atualmente observa-se um aumento das taxas de incidência de microrganismos resistentes aos antimicrobianos. É fundamental investir em estratégias para a promoção do uso adequado destes fármacos que envolvam toda a equipa interdisciplinar, especialmente na assistência à pessoa em situação crítica.
Objetivo: Conhecer o papel do enfermeiro da unidade de cuidados intensivos no combate à resistência aos antimicrobianos.
Métodos: Realizada uma revisão sistemática da literatura com pesquisa na plataforma EBSCO Discovery Service e nas bases de dados da Scopus e SciELO, utilizando descritores em ciências da saúde e palavras-chave. A questão de investigação foi elaborada com a estratégia PICO e os estudos foram selecionados através da metodologia PRISMA, aplicada por dois revisores independentes.
Resultados: Foram selecionados e analisados 9 artigos. Foram identificadas 7 categorias: revisão da prescrição antimicrobiana; colheita de amostras com juízo crítico; vigilância e monitorização da pessoa em situação crítica e administração de antimicrobianos; identificação das alergias; implementação de precauções de isolamento; educação para a saúde; e liderança e comunicação.
Conclusão: Os enfermeiros das unidades de cuidados intensivos implementam intervenções que contribuem para o uso adequado dos antimicrobianos. Contudo, devem ser realizados mais estudos que contribuam para a definição do seu papel e que potenciem a sua integração nas equipas interdisciplinares.
