Editorial Policy

Servir, (ISSN 0871-2379 , eISSN 2184-5697) is a peer-reviewed scientific publication owned by the Catholic Association of Nursing and Health Professionals (ACPES). Edited by ACEPS and based in Lisbon, it is published every four months (with additional special editions whenever deemed appropriate).

Servir journal is available in electronic format and, since 2019, has adopted an open access policy, allowing free access to all published content, without any embargo or charge.

The journal's editorial policy aims to contribute to the development and dissemination of theoretical and empirical scientific knowledge in the areas of nursing and health, adopting a transdisciplinary nature whenever possible.

In order to enable the transfer of scientific and technical knowledge to the real world of everyday life for academics, professionals and ordinary citizens, all articles must be original and scientifically relevant.

Scientific and technical articles and review articles are accepted for publication if they are carried out with methodological rigour and have the potential to contribute to the development of scientific areas in the life and health sciences. The articles submitted must contain original data, not yet have been published (in part or in full) and not be currently under editorial review by another journal. It has an international scope, making it possible to publish in bilingual format, in Portuguese and English. Authors are advised to submit their articles to specialised translation services.

Servir subscribes to the requirements proposed by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) for submitting scientific articles to journals with scientific arbitration.

The appropriate way to cite the journal in bibliographical references is Servir.

The editorial policy follows the criteria of the Directory of Open Access Journals - DOAJ, at no cost to the author or reader.

The review process is fully managed in a double blind review system, preserving the identity of reviewers and authors.

Open Access and Copyright Policy

In order to promote the free circulation of knowledge, Servir operates on (open access) basis. All its content is available and protected under the Creative Commons licence (CC BY 4.0).

The journal allows all versions to be self-archived in institutional repositories and can be made available immediately.

Editorial policies are defined according to the criteria of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).

Peer Review Policy

The journal follows the double-blind peer review process, and the decision to publish depends on the favourable opinion of two external reviewers, one of whom is a native speaker of the language used in the work. The reviewers, academic or professional experts from different institutional and geographical backgrounds, will be recruited from the editorial board according to the content of the work submitted.

Plagiarism Policy

All articles submitted to Servir are checked for similarity using programmes designed for this purpose. The detection of plagiarism in submitted articles will result in the publication of the submitted work and other publications being banned for a period of time to be defined by the journal's Board of Directors.

Archive Policy

Revista Servir is part of the SARC - Scientific Journals Hosting Service project, which is based on the OJS - Open Journal System publishing and management platform. This service, provided under the RCAAP project, is supplied as SaaS (Software as a Service) and all the updating, monitoring, backup and security activities are carried out.

Repository Policy

Servir journal allows all versions to be self-archived in institutional repositories and can be made available immediately.

Privacy Policy

The names and addresses provided in this journal will be used exclusively for the services provided by this publication and will not be made available for other purposes or to third parties.

Digital Preservation Policy

This journal is digitally preserved through the Public Knowledge Project service.

Data Sharing Policy

The journal encourages authors to make available the data that supports the results presented in the articles. Data that under any circumstances jeopardises the protection, privacy or safety of those involved in the research or any other legal or ethical issue is excluded. This deposit must be made before or at the time of submission.

It is recommended to deposit in a data repository with a plan for long-term file preservation and registration of persistent identifiers. If it is difficult to identify a suitable repository, it is recommended, for example, to use the re3data.org portal to find one suited to your needs or to use a generalised repository such as Zenodo.

Authors are encouraged to follow good citation practices with regard to datasets as well. Where applicable, information should be provided on where the data associated with the article is located and the conditions under which it can be accessed. The DOI, other persistent identifier or URL should also be provided where applicable.

Example: The data supporting the results presented in this article are available in open access on Zenodo.

To ensure double-blind peer review, this information should not, however, appear in the article document. During the submission process, you can put the information in the comments to the editor.

Direct Marketing Policy

Servir journal does not carry out any direct marketing, such as direct mail, telemarketing, direct response advertising to authors or invitations to submit articles. Servir journal does not use any direct marketing consisting of promotion, communication activity sent directly to authors or companies to submit articles to issues of the journal.
It is important to note that not all marketing is good marketing, especially for research journals, direct marketing techniques contain negative elements that have an impact on the field of global authentic research. Servir magazine believes in authentic research and publishing with a double-blind peer review process.

Servir journal does not adopt any Advertising Policy, as it does not accept advertisements.
