Hazing consists in a set of practices hold by the senior university students which aim to welcome and integrate the new students. A major objective of this study is to serve as an empirical basis for the discussion of this practice within the academic community of a Portuguese university. It used an analytical approach based on the concept of harassment. It was applied an adaptation of the survey Leymann Inventory of Psychological Terror (LIPT). We found that the large majority of participants (92.8%) were exposed to at least one situation of harassment during hazing. The more frequent harassment behaviors found are limiting communication and dismissing people.Downloads
