Abstract

Given the current processes of a new global capitalism, the education of elites has been marked by changes that are producing a tension between homogenising and diversifying tendencies. The reference to the international takes on a whole range of meanings that this article seeks to reconstruct. Starting from a study of the education of elites and the internationalisation dimension at both the global level and in the Portuguese context, two case studies will be presented of international schools within the Lisbon region which are adopting different ways of constructing their school identity.
