This article results from an investigative course resulting from a traineeship report to obtain the master's degree. The purpose of this study is to understand the extent to which the involvement of parents in the education of children promotes their responsibility by fostering a responsible character. The variable punctuality was used to understand the observed phenomena of this civic act and how this aspect is implicit in the development of the value of responsibility in the child. To understand the thematic, we used the direct observation of the participants in the investigative process, recording the phenomena observed, reflecting on them with the educators and doing documentary research. Finally, we used the semi-structured interview, interviewing education professionals and understanding their conceptions about punctuality and how citizenship and character are completed. Data analysis was performed and it was verified that punctuality is a preponderant factor not only in the development of the responsibility value in the child, but also an extension of civic education and values of the surrounding environment that must have continuity for the educational environment and social in general. It is also concluded that citizenship and character are inseparable.
