This article will be an attempt to offer new sights and interpretations of the relations between both empires taking the Moluccas’s incident as point of departure. The study of its antecedents and developments will allow us to draw the struggles between Spanish and Portuguese empires and their counterparts, the Dutch Republic and the emerging British maritime empire during the beginning of seventeenth century
