João Micas – later D. Joseph Nasci – was an important personality of the jewish diaspora in the XVI century, that played a leading rôle in the negotial and diplomatic levels, as also in the Intelligence policy. When João passed to Istambul, he transfered to the Ottoman Empire all the weight of his knowledge, being invested with some tittles, with the possession of Tiberias, and with the duchy of Naxos. Documentation of Torre do Tombo (Lisbon), and of Arquivo General de Simancas (Spain) show us, respectively, that till the entry in the Ottoman Empire, and at the end of his carrier, Joseph Nasci allways thought in the Iberian Peninsula as an alternative of his course. The document revelead in this article, show us not only the hesitations of Micas, but also de weigth of the «Oriental Question» in his decisions, and in the interests of his masters – the sultans.
