«De Diamper a Mattanchery» studies a well-known and controversial episode of India’s religious history: the union of the Syro-Malabar Church with that of Rome in 1600. It is also an exercise of religious history contemplating politics, economy and society, which moulded and conditioned the relationship between both churches since the sixteenth century. Far from restraining itself geographically to Malabar, the present study deals with other regions in India, where each Religious Order created its own missionary strategy, each evolving in a different way, and also its impact on the Indian subcontinent.
