El faro de Cádiz en la Edad Moderna

Abstract

In this work we aim to highlight the functional and architectural evolution of the San Sebastián lighthouse, located on the so-called Punta del Sur de la Caleta, in the urban centre of the city of Cádiz, during the Modern Era. Our study allowed us to identify three evolutionary phases that culminated in a modern structure with defensive systems and mechanical instruments that resulted in an advanced system of nautical defense and navigation.
