Abstract

In a scenario of productive restructurings in the world of work of journalists in Brazil, this article seeks to ascertain indicators of union engagement in the category and critically analyze the distrust of this sector with the mechanisms of collective action. Through empirical research with communicators working in the State of São Paulo between December 2015 and January 2017, the results show an accentuated crisis of representativeness of union organizations, disinterest with any form of coordinated manifestation, and a pragmatic adjustment to the impositions of media organizations. It is argued that this situation is influenced by reconfigurations in the Brazilian union movement.
