Exploring educational transfers in the first decades of the twentieth century

Abstract

This article examines the topic of educational transfers, taking as its object the key presence of «Swedish gymnastics» in the discourse of modern physical education in Portugal and exploring the semantic shifts it underwent and the sociological vehicles which were its carriers, seeking to capture the mediating role played by the process of internationalization of education and the building of an international identity in education.
