Abstract

Awake craniotomy is indicated for resection of space occupying lesions in eloquent areas of the cortex, for treatment of neoplasic diseases, movement disorders, pain treatment and in epilepsy surgery.

We describe a case report of 25 years old male, with a diagnosis of a left parieto-temporal tumor submitted to a sedoanalgesia with dexmedetomidine for an elective awake craniotomy, which is a safe and potent sedative for functional neurosurgery.
