MANAGEMENT OF EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS: A CRITICAL POSITION
Keywords:
(participatory) action research, school management, school, democracy.Abstract
This article presents, in the form of a theoretical reflection, the possible interaction between action research as a general investigative approach and the management of educational organizations, particularly schools, as a professional practice. Drawing on research and conceptual work by various authors, it establishes a perspective that clarifies the potential of (participatory) action research within school management practices grounded in democratic principles and values, especially the agency of different stakeholders within their contexts. Simultaneously, it shows how educational management can improve both structural and pedagogical practices when stakeholders are genuinely integrated into daily actions, decisionmaking, and the analysis of a (social) reality that is unique. Thus, a specific perspective is assumed on topics such as research and its frameworks, management and its role within educational organizations, and the position of educational professionals in schools and their various circumstances.
